Once again an enthusiastic group of year 8 students experienced the adventure and challenge of the year 8 residential trip. This year it was 39 apprehensive girls who arrived at the Old Vicarage activity centre for 3 days of fun.
Straight off the bus the girls were into the action carrying out an orienteering challenge on the 27 acre site. Over the three days everyone tried Climbing, Abseiling, Zip Wire, Rifle Shooting, Horse Riding, Jacob’s Ladder, Leap of Faith and Canoeing. Some hardy souls even threw themselves into the lake to round off the water activity!
Everyone had a great time and many pushed themselves further than they thought possible in many of the activities.
Sadly it was all over too quickly and it was with heavy hearts that everyone boarded the coach home.
The school has been visiting Stottesden for the past 16 years. Unfortunately due to the centre changing its business model away from schools this will be our final visit there. I know that many pupils and staff past and present have fantastic, lifelong memories of this trip.
There will be a trip for next year’s year 8s and Mr Smith is currently busy trying to find a venue that will provide the same level of challenge, adventure and fun.
