Year 11 art students have been out and about today, with GCSE Fine Art groups visiting galleries in Liverpool, and the GCSE Applied Art group visiting museums in Oxford. We picked another glorious day for it!
In Oxford we visited the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford University Natural History Museum & Pitt Rivers Museum, where we saw almost every type of object imaginable - including Egyptian mummies, Impressionist paintings, Victorian jewellery, shrunken heads, Modernist sculptures, elephant skeletons, butterflies, fossils, shells, Roman pottery and Greek stone carvings.
The research the girls have done at these museums will feed into the controlled assessment project they are currently working on - worth 60% of their final GCSE grade!
