Train 2 Teach @ TGGS


​Here at Turves Green Girls' School we are working with Holly Lodge High School which is the lead school for the St John Bosco Teaching School Alliance. We are offering opportunities for trainees to qualify as teachers through the School Direct programme.

This year we are offering opportunities to train in our Geography department.

What is the School Direct Programme?
School Direct is a route into teaching which enables schools to take the lead in teacher training in partnership with a university. At TGGS we are working with both Holly Lodge High School and Newman University, which is widely recognised for its excellence in teacher training.
If you complete the training year successfully you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status as well as a Post Graduate qualification.

​Search for "St John Bosco Catholic School Alliance, Holly Lodge High School" as the training provider. Before you apply you will need to consider the following eligibility criteria-
  • Degree 2:2 or higher (at least 50% in your chosen subject)
  • GCSE A*-C grades in English and Maths
  • School Experience. You will need to have at least two weeks recent experience in a British state school in the age range you are interested in
  • Following your application and interview you will need to successfully complete Professional Skills Tests
